Upcoming contemporary art week to engage art lovers

New Delhi, Aug 24 (IANS) In an attempt to stimulate conversation around South Asian contemporary art, the "Delhi Contemporary Art Week" (DCAW) will kick off on Monday at the India Habitat Centre (IHC) here.

The four-day event will present a number of outreach activities and panel discussions for art connoisseurs, collectors and children.

It will see the participation of seven galleries in Delhi -- Blueprint 12, Gallery Espace, Exhibit 320, Latitude 28, Nature Morte, Shrine Empire, and Vadehra Art Gallery.

In response to a query on what attendees should expect from the DCAW, Latitude 28 gallery's founder Bhavna Kakar told IANS that it will be an enriching, immersive and interactive space for all those who are interested in learning and exploring art.

"There are various curated walk-throughs that are organised with patrons focusing on the finer nuances of contemporary art vis-?-vis collections.

"We are also conducting a special walk-through for the young segment, to handhold into an understanding of contemporary art and allow them to inculcate fresh perspective," she said.

The event will focus on what Delhi galleries have to offer in terms of contemporary art, under one roof, she added.

"We look forward to educating people on the value of contemporary art, with the investment opportunities it offers at very accessible price points," Exhibit320 gallery's Director Rasika Kajaria told IANS.

DCAW has been curated by an all-woman team from different galleries.

It will preview on Monday, and will be open for public participation till Thursday.
