Students demand ‘Atal Chair’ at AMU

Aligarh, Aug 23 (IANS) Former students of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) have demanded the institution of an Atal Bihari Vajpayee Chair for research on the former Prime Minister's literary work.

In a letter to the Vice Chancellor, the former students said "Atal Chair" would add to the prestige of the AMU, which already has Ambedkar and Nehru Chairs.

A former student, Jasim Mohammed, offered Rs 2 lakh for the project.

"There is need for academic work on Vajpayee's poetry, his speeches and his life, which is inspirational," Mohammed told IANS.
