Raipur, Aug 22 (IANS) A team of the Election Commission will go on an inspection visit to Chhattisgarh on August 29. The two-day visit is aimed at assessing the preparations for the upcoming Vidhan Sabha election in the state.
The investigating team will include the Chief Election Commissioner, the two Election Commissioners and other senior officials.
According to Chhattisgarh's Chief Election Commissioner Subrat Sahu, "The Full Board goes on an inspection in the state which will be undergoing Vidhan Sabha elections. The team will arrive here on August 29 and leave on August 30."
According to officials, "The team may also go to Bastar to make sure the elections take place in a fair manner in the maoist-hit area."
Among others involved in the inspection are Chief Secretary Ajay Singh, Director General of Police Amarnath Upadhyay, Director General (Naxal) D.M. Awasthi, and senior officials at the district level.
