Thimphu, Aug 19 (IANS) The Election Commission of Bhutan has announced October 18 as the date for the third general elections.
The election date was announced by the Chief of the Election Commission, after the approval by the King of Bhutan, through a televised programme on the National television -- Bhutan broadcasting services, Xinhua news agency reported.
Prior to the general round, a primary election round would be held between four aspiring political parties on September 15. After that, only two parties will be selected to compete for the general round.
