Lucknow, Aug 17 (IANS) The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday released a list of places where the urns containing the ashes of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be taken, besides the prominent rivers of the state where the ashes will be immersed.
A state government spokesman said the state was the 'karmabhoomi' of the former Prime Minister and that Vajpayee had a deep relationship with many places of the state.
"So, a list and schedule have been drawn up for the ashes of the late leader to be immersed in various rivers and to provide an opportunity to people to pay their respects to the late Prime Minister," said the spokesman.
The rivers where his ashes will be immersed include the Ganga in Varanasi, the Gomti in Lucknow, the Yamuna and Chambal in Agra, the Ghaghra, the Rohni and the Rapti in Gorakhpur and the Karwan in Aligarh.
Kanpur, Balrampur, Kasganj, Ambedkarnagar, Amethi, Amroha and Auraiyya are among other places, the spokesman added.
The dates are yet to be finalized, the spokesman said, adding these are likely to be towards the end of this month.
The ashes would also be taken to Faizabad, Farukkhabad, Fatehpur, Firozabad, Noida, Ghaziabad, Ghazipur, Hathras, Gonda, Hamirpur, Hapur, Hardoi, Hathras, Jalaun, Jaunpur, Kaushambi, Jhansi, Kushinagar, Lakhimpur Kheri, Mainpuri and otehr districts of UP as well, where they would be immersed in the local rivers.
