New Delhi, Aug 14 (IANS) Private firm BIOD Energy on Tuesday announced that it will commission a 100-tonne bio-diesel manufacturing facility in Bawal in Haryana.

In a statement here, BIOD Energy said that the 100 tonne per day capacity plant which will process used cooking oil and other multi-feedstock to produce bio-diesel will be commissioned by November this year.

"BIOD Energy will be commissioning its first plant in Bawal, Haryana, which will have the capacity of 100 tonnes per day to process used cooking oil and other multi-feedstock to produce bio-diesel. The state-of-the-art plant will be commissioned in November 2018," company Chief Executive Shiva Vig said in a statement.

"The overall blending percentage of bio-diesel in diesel has been less than 0.5 percent in the country due to constraints pertaining to feedstock availability," he added.

The statement said that currently diesel alone meets an estimated 72 per cent of domestic transport fuel demand, followed by petrol at 23 per cent, while the rest of the need gap is filled by other fuels such as CNG and LPG.
