Kolkata, Aug 7 (IANS) BJP National Secretary Rahul Sinha on Tuesday called upon the Muslims in the country to support the draft NRC in Assam and said that Trinamool Congress' opposition was an "attempt to divert attention from its failures in West Bengal".
"I urge the Indian Muslims, especially those living in Bengal, to come forward and support the implementation of the NRC in this state as well. West Bengal is becoming a hub for infiltrators under the Trinamool Congress rule. There should be a clear demarcation between refugees and infiltrators," he said.
Echoing BJP National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya's views, Sinha said that Hindus, Christians and Buddhists who arrived in India due to persecution in Bangladesh can be termed refugees while those illegally crossing borders for employment and other benefits are infiltrators.
"We have to stop this as infiltrators are taking up our jobs, food and employment," the BJP leader said.
Terming TMC rule in Bengal since 2011 as a "complete failure" the BJP leader said that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had changed her stand on illegal immigrants to divert people's attention from failures of her government as the 2019 general elections were nearing.
"Be it law and order, industry, employment generation or health, the Trinamool Congress government and the Chief Minister have been complete failures in Bengal," Sinha said.
The draft NRC in Assam was published on July 30 and excluded over 40 lakh people for allegedly failing to submit proper identification documents.
