"No Horn" campaign launched in Shimla, Manali

Shimla, Aug 3 (IANS) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Friday launched an awareness campaign named "Horn Not Ok" along with a statewide mobile app "Shoor Nahin" or no noise.

The Chief Minister said "the state is known for its salubrious climate and peaceful environment.

 

"Thus, it is vital that each one of us contribute towards maintaining the pristine environment of the state."

He said blowing horns is not only causing unnecessary noise pollution but it is also harmful for health.

The "Horn Not Ok" campaign was launched in Shimla and Manali, in which the drivers will be motivated not to use horns, Thakur added.

The mobile app "Shoor Nahin", is an initiative to check noise pollution in the state. The app has been developed to report any noise pollution complaint to authorities.

It's an initiative of the Department of Environment, Science and Technology in association with the NIC of Himachal Pradesh.

The app allows to lodge a complaint with the officials concerned, including the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police, who can upload the action taken report on the app.

The app, would help authorities to locate the occurrence of the incident using GPS, which can be easily used to trace the path using Google maps, say officials.
