Kolkata, Aug 1 (IANS) Expressing concern over Kolkata's "deteriorating" condition, hospitality major EIH Ltd's Executive Chairman P.R.S. Oberoi on Wednesday said "no real development" was taking place in the city.
"No real development is taking place, I feel sad to see the city's deteriorating condition," said Oberoi, who was here to attend the company's 68th Annual General Meeting.
Oberoi also said he had written a letter to Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee some months back regarding clearing the pavements along the entire Chowringhee area where the company's hotel is located.
"I wrote a letter to Mayor but there is no response," he told reporters.
Applauding the state for having good roads leading to the city airport, he hoped things would improve in the future.
The hospitality major would add 50 rooms at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore in its hotel in the city, he added.
