Gstaad (Switzerland), July 28 (IANS) Second-seed Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain defeated Japan's Taro Daniel 7-5, 6-1 here to reach the semi-finals of the Swiss Open tennis tournament.
Bautista, the world No. 17, needed an hour and 28 minutes on Friday to prevail over 88th-ranked Daniel in the first-ever match between the two players, reports EFE news agency.
Next up for Bautista will be Laslo Djere of Serbia, who got past Croatia's Kitor Galovic 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).
The other semi-final will pit Estonia's Jurgen Zopp against Matteo Berrettini of Italy.
