Shimla, July 27 (IANS) The ongoing all-India strike by truckers has hit the transportation of the apples from Himachal Pradesh to neighbouring states, officials said on Friday.
The state horticulture department has urged the apple growers to delay apple picking keeping in view of the ongoing national strike of the truck operators.
Himachal is one of India's major apple-producing regions, with more than 90 per cent of the produce going to the domestic market. Apples alone constitute 84 per cent of the state's fruit economy of Rs 3,500 crore.
