3 minor sisters die under mysterious circumstances

New Delhi, July 25 (IANS) Three minor sisters were found unconscious in their house and were declared brought dead in a hospital here, the police said on Thursday. There were no injury marks on them.

The cause of death could be hunger, said a police officer, adding the father of the girls was missing. The man was reportedly looking for a job for a long time, he said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, East, Pankaj Kumar Singh, however, refused to spell out any specific reason.

"Nothing can be said till the post-mortem report is available. However, the investigation is on and we are exploring all possible angles," he said.

On Tuesday around noon, the three victims aged two, four and eight were found by their neighbours in an unconscious state, in the one-room house, where the family had shifted a few days back.

"When their neighbours went to their house, they discovered that the girls were numb while their mother, who was also present in the house, did not know anything," said Singh.

The mother, the police said, is not mentally stable and their father has been missing since Tuesday morning.

The mother, along with the neighbours, took them to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, where they were declared brought dead.

The police officer said that prima facie, it did not appear to be a case of assault. "There were no injury marks," Singh said.
