Mumbai Congress slams BJP, Modi for dividing people with ‘hatred’

Mumbai, July 23 (IANS) The Mumbai Congress on Monday plastered the city with over a 100 hoardings, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of dividing society and the nation with "hatred".

The hoardings, depicting Congress President Rahul Gandhi's famous hug with Modi during the no-confidence motion against the government in Lok Sabha, have been erected at prominent locations across the city and suburbs, attracting curious looks from commuters and passersby.

"The Congress will not allow BJP to propagate hatred and poison the minds of the peoplea They are indulging in this for the past four years using language, region, religion and caste as tools to spread violence," Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam told media persons.

He said people hailing from different social backgrounds live together with harmony and sense of brotherhood before the BJP came to power.

"But, they (BJP) have destroyed all this and the people are resentfula However, they won't be spared and we will defeat them with love," he remarked.

Gandhi's concluding statement in his Lok Sabha speech last week "Nafrat Se Nahi, Pyaar Se Jeetenge (We will win by Love, not Hatred)" also figures in large letters on the hoardings.

The city Congress chief said all party activists have been urged to spread the message of love as directed by Gandhi to help free the country from the grip of violence and hatred.

The hoardings are visible at CSM Terminus, Churchgate, Dadar, Andheri, Dahisar, Borivali, Jogeshwari, Ghatkopar, Byclla, the highways and other important sites.
