Anjali Jain, founder of Kala Drishti (NGO) and Harpreet Ahluwalia, founder of Earthly Creations are sharing some tips to decorate home in minimalistic way.
Clear all surfaces of clutter: Cluttered home signifies cluttered mind', thus leading to increasing stress levels. Keeping home clean is a chore that requires daily diligence. Thus the easiest way is to become minimalistic, where 'less is more'. Concept of "do I need it' has taken over from 'I like it' and "I must have it'. Even Feng shui advocates minimalistic clutter free d?cor and living.
Choose quality over quantity: Less number of designer d?cor items can make your home looks attractive and cluster free. You really have to consider each piece carefully for your home. Choose well made pieces that are build to last, will withstand daily use and look better as a result. Try to use old material after showing creativity in it.
Balance is the key minimalist design: Balance is very essential to pay attention in the minimalistic design. Arrange pillows, artworks or lamps in flanking pairs or use asymmetrical pattern to look good. This will give you a big difference in how you perceive the space if the placement of items builds off each group through balance or juxtaposition.
