Decorate your home in a minimalistic way

New Delhi, July 19 (IANS) Simplicity is the special ingredient of decorating a home and size of the house should never matter for converting it into your dream house. With modern d?cor and eye catching furniture, anyone can make the living space attractive with minimum number of furniture and showcases.

Anjali Jain, founder of Kala Drishti (NGO) and Harpreet Ahluwalia, founder of Earthly Creations are sharing some tips to decorate home in minimalistic way.

  • Keep it simple: White and clean walls, simple textures and blending decor makes minimalist designs spaces- large and inviting. It is more of 'straight line concept' rather than 'classical and ornate'. To balance out the minimalistic approach use crisp and rich natural tones of colours like beige, brown, pristine white and caramel tan etc. It will add up the comfort and warmth to your room.

  • Clear all surfaces of clutter: Cluttered home signifies cluttered mind', thus leading to increasing stress levels. Keeping home clean is a chore that requires daily diligence. Thus the easiest way is to become minimalistic, where 'less is more'. Concept of "do I need it' has taken over from 'I like it' and "I must have it'. Even Feng shui advocates minimalistic clutter free d?cor and living.

  • Choose quality over quantity: Less number of designer d?cor items can make your home looks attractive and cluster free. You really have to consider each piece carefully for your home. Choose well made pieces that are build to last, will withstand daily use and look better as a result. Try to use old material after showing creativity in it.

  • Balance is the key minimalist design: Balance is very essential to pay attention in the minimalistic design. Arrange pillows, artworks or lamps in flanking pairs or use asymmetrical pattern to look good. This will give you a big difference in how you perceive the space if the placement of items builds off each group through balance or juxtaposition.
