Indian Sports Fan community spreads to LondonNew Delhi, July 11 (IANS) In the wake of the Womens Hockey World Cup followed by the Mens Hockey World Cup 2018, Indian Sports Fan, Indias largest sports fan community, is spreading its wings to England with the inauguration of its Indian Sports Fan branch in London.

The objective is to motivate Indian sports fans based in London via film screenings, seminars and exhibitions on hockey, badminton, cricket and other sports with Indian fan following.

Beginning with an Indian Women's Hockey World Cup Exhibition, a first in the history of Indian Hockey depicting the glorious past of Indian Women's Hockey, the Indian Sports Fan community will be working towards sports promotions via many other sports events.

 

The community will be headed by Kuldeep Ahalawat, a Londoner of Indian origin. Ahalawat who hails from Jhajjar, Haryana, has covered more than 40 international tournaments that include two Olympic Games and the Asian Games.

"I am extremely humbled on this new responsibility which will help to keep up the spirit and opinion of Indian sports lovers who are based in Britain. We have planned seminars, exhibitions and survey which starts from Women's Hockey leading up to the 12th edition of Women's Cricket World Cup scheduled to be hosted by England and Wales from 30th May 2019," Ahalawat said in a statement on Wednesday.

Incidentally, the ongoing cricket series between India and England has 55 percent ticket buyers of Indian origin that depicts a huge ratio of Indian sports audience to follow their favourite sport.

The Indian Sports Fan community originally took shape in the form of a WhatsApp group. It has in its ranks some of India`s biggest sportspersons, including Olympic bronze medallist Karnam Malleswari, hockey coach Harendra Singh and former India goalkeeper Baljit Singh Dadwal.
