Patna, July 9 (IANS) The BJP on Monday rejected its ally JD-U's contention of playing the role of a big brother in the state and that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will be the NDA face in Bihar during the 2019 general elections.
"No one is the big brother except the people. The state's people are the only big brother. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the National Democratic Alliance leader and its face in the 2019 polls," BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra said when questioned over Janata Dal-United's categorical stand at the party headquarters here.
The Bharatiya Janata Party's stand comes ahead of BJP President Amit Shah's visit to Bihar this week, during which he will meet Nitish Kumar.
Last week, senior JD-U leader K.C. Tyagi said: "The JD-U will be a big brother in seat- sharing for the 2019 polls in Bihar. The party will contest more seats."
Shah will also meet and address party leaders and workers to discuss the preparations for the 2019 polls.
