Will keep striving to pin terrorists by UNSC 1267 sanctions: MEA

Will keep striving to pin terrorists by UNSC 1267 sanctions: MEANew Delhi, July 5 (IANS) India will continue to make efforts to cripple terrorists operating out of Pakistan through UNSC 1267 sanctions, the government said on Thursday.

In response to a query about whether India is going to submit a fresh dossier to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) against Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Maulana Masood Azhar, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said India would continue to chase terrorists.

"We will continue to make all efforts to bring terrorists and their entities operating out of Pakistan under the sanctions of regime of UNSC 1267. It's a powerful tool available to all countries, to the global community which can be used to cripple terrorists and terrorist entities which are operating anywhere in the world," he said.

India's earlier efforts to get Masood Azhar put under UNSC 1267 sanctions have been stonewalled by China that vetoed the proposals.

Masood Azhar was freed from an Indian jail in 1999 in return for hostages in the Nepal-New Delhi flight IC-814 that was hijacked and taken to Kandahar in Afghanistan.
