New Delhi, July 4 (IANS) Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday congratulated Maj Gen V.D. Dogra for completing a gruelling triathlon to earn the title of "Ironman", terming him a role model and inspiration for all Indians.
"It takes tremendous will power, discipline and stamina to complete an #IronMan triathlon-3.8 km swim; 180 km cycle; 42.2 km run. Major General Dogra did that, in Austria, in just 14 hrs! He is a role model and inspiration for all Indians. We salute him!" Gandhi said.
An Ironman Triathlon is widely considered one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world, with competitors having to complete the events - swimming, cycling and running - in sequence within 17 hours to earn the title of 'Ironman'.
Dogra completed it in 14 hours and 21 minute to become the first serving Indian Army officer and the only General across the world to have completed the 'Ironman' competition.
