Bhopal, July 4 (IANS) The Madhya Pradesh Congress on Wednesday slammed the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and said the state is passing though a "scary phase" of economic crisis.
In a statement, Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Kamal Nath said the state is dealing with a "huge economic crisis" and if things do not improve, it could lead to an overdraft-like situation.
The Congress leader said he had written to Chouhan to issue a "white paper" on the economic situation but received no response.
"To win elections, Shivraj Singh Chouhan is making new announcements and bringing new programmes. But, his previous announcements and programmes are yet to take shape," Nath said.
"From where the money will come for implementation of those plans and programmes?" he wondered.
The Congress leader said till March 31, 2003, the state had a loan burden of Rs 20,147 crore, which has now swollen to almost Rs 1,75,000 crore, Nath added.
