Delhi to remodel 94 dispensaries into polyclinicsNew Delhi, July 3 (IANS) The Delhi Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on Tuesday approved a proposal for remodelling of 94 government dispensaries into polyclinics in different areas of the national capital at the cost of Rs 168 crore.

The cabinet also approved the construction of a six-lane flyover at Shastri Park Intersection and a two-lane flyover at Seelampur.

"The benefits of these flyovers will be that the road between the Uttar Pradesh border and the ISBT (Seelampur) will be signal free. The Shastri Park Intersection will also become congestion free. The flyovers, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 303 crore, will be ready in two years," Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia told media after the meeting.

The project, to be handled by the Public Works Department (PWD), was earlier approved by the Expenditure Finance Committee for the same amount as the preliminary estimate.

He said that the aim of the remodelling of the dispensaries was to reorganise health care facilities.

The polyclinics, which will be attached to various Delhi government hospitals, will act as satellite centres for outdoor specialised medical treatment centres of these hospitals.

Medical superintendents of hospitals to which the polyclinics will be attached will be the overall in-charge of these polyclinics.

"The old dispensaries, which are in bad shape, will be remodelled. The cabinet has also sought a report, to be presented in the next meeting, on the already running polyclinics and Mohallah Clinics on details regarding the issues in its functioning," Sisodia said.
