Chandigarh, June 29 (IANS) Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar himself rode a motorcycle to inspect development works at the Karan Stadium in the state's Karnal town on Friday.
Khattar reached the sports stadium in Karnal, nearly 125 km from here for a surprise inspection of development works of the football ground, synthetic track and grass being carried out at the cost of about Rs 7 crore and directed the officers concerned to ensure its timely completio.
Work of the synthetic track and football ground would be completed by November 2018 against the scheduled completion deadline of December 2019, a spokesman said here.
Khattar also interacted with the players in the stadium and enquired about the problems being faced by them. He directed officers to ensure adequate supply of drinking water, toilets for boys and girls in the stadium and regular cleaning of the stadium complex.
Sportspersons, including women, from Haryana have brought laurels to the country in international sporting events, including Olympics, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, in recent years.
Twenty-two sportspersons of the state had won medals in the Commonwealth Games-2018 held at Gold Coast-Australia this year out of the total 66 medals won by Indian athletes.
Haryana players won nine gold medal, six silver medal and seven bronze medals in the CWG.
