Through a press release on Wednesday, the MMRDA had notified about the planned outage to be carried out on Sunday morning between 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. in for erecting a U girder on the Western Express highway.

It said the areas that would be affected by the outage are K-West, P-South, P-North, R-South, R-Central and H-West wards covering western areas of Vile Parle, Juhu, Andheri, Versova, Jogeshwari, Goregaon, Malad, Kandivli and Charkop.

Reliance Energy, noting it has its customers in these areas, said: "We will take every possible step to ensure that Reliance Energy consumers are not inconvenienced during the planned transmission line work. We have a robust distribution network utilising which, we shall be rerouting the power through alternate network to reach our esteemed consumers."

A Reliance Energy spokesperson noted that power supply had earlier been affected in many suburban areas on March 25 owing to work on raising of the height of high tension wires in the Kandivli area for the construction of a Mumbai Metro corridor.

"However, Reliance Energy had then also successfully rerouted power ensuring that its customers enjoyed continuous electricity supply," the spokesperson said.
