St. Petersburg, June 19 (IANS) Costa Rica striker Marco Urena on Tuesday said his national team needs to score in their upcoming FIFA World Cup match against Brazil in order to have a chance of qualifying for the next round.
Los Ticos were defeated 0-1 by Serbia on Sunday in their World Cup debut in Russia, after a free kick from Serbia defender Alexandar Kolarov in the second half broke through Costa Rica's fortress-like defense and goalkeeper Keylor Navas, reports Efe.
"The group is very confident. Switzerland got a point, so they (Brazil) are not invincible. We'll spare no effort to get a good result," Urena said at a press conference in the lead-up to Friday's match.
"We defend well, we have a compact team, but when it comes to attacking, we need more from everyone, everyone wants the ball, the responsibility, and we are up to it," Los Angeles FC striker added.
Costa Rica is at the bottom of Group E after losing to Serbia, which tops the group with three points, while Brazil and Switzerland both gained one point after their 1-1 tie on Sunday.
