Ferrari crash: Forensic team examines car, accident spot

Ferrari crash: Forensic team examines car, accident spotKolkata, June 4 (IANS) A day after a person was killed and another injured in a car crash in West Bengal's Howrah district, a team of forensic experts on Monday examined the wrecked convertible Ferrari and inspected the accident spot.

Several broken parts as well as electronic devices which splintered out of the car following the accident were collected and sent for testing.

The forensic team also thoroughly inspected the accident spot on National Highway 6 near Howrah district's Domjur and found around 200 feet of skid marks on the road.

"It seems the speed of the car was well over 100 kmph before the accident," a forensic expert said.

"It is a high-end car and has a lot of electronic devices. We have managed to collect some of these devices that are still functional. We would get in touch with the technical team of the car manufacturer to derive electronic data. It is not certain whether the anti-lock braking system in the car worked during the accident," he said.

On Sunday morning, the red Ferrari California T with two riders rammed the guardrails of the Pakuria flyover on NH 6 and crashed into an iron rail of the bridge that pierced the engine.

Ashibaji Ray, 43, who was driving the car, died in the accident while his friend's daughter seated next to him was seriously injured and is currently being treated at a city hospital.

According to primary investigation, the car was part of a seven-car motorcade that had started from Kolkata early on Sunday for a long drive along NH-6 and was returning to the city.
