Beijing, May 31 (IANS) China hopes to work alongside a visiting US delegation to implement consensus over import tariffs, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Thursday.
Spokesperson Hua Chunying said that China and the US share many common interests and that bilateral cooperation will lead to mutual benefits, reports Efe news.
"China's door is open for negotiations and the US delegation has arrived in Beijing, in the next few days the big delegation will hold discussions with China on how to implement our bilateral consensus," said Hua.
"We hope the US will work with us to implement the consensus we have reached so as to deliver more good news and more benefits to the business communities of the two sides."
A first round of talks was held between China and the US in Beijing in April to defuse tension over import tariffs that had led to fears of a possible trade war between the world's two largest economies.
The discussions are also expected to cover issues related to the agricultural sector, according to the American Chamber of Commerce in Beijing.
