Hyderabad, May 30 (IANS) In the presence of national team coach Pullela Gopichand, around 150 kids from across Telangana took part in a two-day badminton tournament for under 13 boys and girls in singles and doubles categories as the Hyderabad Hunters got its academy underway here on Wednesday.
On the occasion of Telangana Formation Day, Hyderabad Hunters organised the meet which has an overall prize money of Rs 50,000.
Gopichand was present during the inauguration at the Badminton Courts.
"This Academy will help to further bolster the efforts of the team to have a more committed footprint in the city and promote badminton with a professional approach," he said.
Finishing the Premier Badminton League Season 3 on a high, Hyderabad Hunters - the 2018 Champions - have further cemented its connect with the city by coming up with this academy.
The PBL franchise team undertook this initiative with an objective to play a more active and constructive role in promoting and developing badminton within the city and the region.
