Heat wave conditions intensify in Haryana, Punjab

Chandigarh, May 29 (IANS) Heat wave conditions intensified in most parts of Haryana and Punjab on Tuesday with most areas reeling under severe heatwave conditions.

The maximum temperatures hovered in the 44 to 46.7, three to six degrees above average.

Narnaul town in Haryana was the hottest at 46.7 degrees followed by Hisar at 46.6 degrees and Bhiwani at 46.4 degrees Celsius.

Amritsar city in neighbouring Punjab was hot at 44.2 degrees.

Chandigarh recorded a high of 42.5 degrees.

Ludhiana and Patiala cities recorded highs of 43.7 and 43.6 degrees respectively.

Met department officials said heat wave conditions would prevail over the region in the coming days.
