The DFS said it got a call at around 2.40 a.m. about the fire at a waste disposal barn in Vasundhara Enclave in east Delhi. The barn is about 50 meters away from Dharamshila Narayana Super Specialty Hospital.
Some 20 fire tenders were pressed into service to extinguish the blaze.
Efforts were made to prevent the fire from spreading further amid concerns that the hospital complex was near the waste barn.
"Given the magnitude of the fire, Dharamshila Narayana Hospital extended help by providing more than two lakh litres of water. With the combined efforts of the fire tenders and the hospital, the fire was completely under control by 8.30 a.m.," a hospital spokesperson said.
