Two gunrunners held with 21 pistols

New Delhi, May 23 (IANS) Two persons who supplied illegal firearms to gangs and criminals in NCR-Delhi area were arrested in north Delhi and 21 sophisticated pistols seized from them, police said on Wednesday.

Vineet Kumar, 33, and his cousin Ram Kumar, 33, are natives of Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh.

Both were arrested on Monday evening on a tip-off when they reached Salimgarh flyover near Rajghat to deliver firearms to criminals, Deputy Commissioner of Police P.S. Kushwah said.

Vineet told police that he was ITI-passout from Aligrah and his father owned vast agricultural land in his native village.

"He and Ram Kumar were sent to jail in 2008 in an attempt-to-murder case in Rajasthan in a property dispute case. They later came in contact with criminals and arms manufacturers of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh in jail and joined their gang," the officer said.

After release from jail, both got involved in supplying illegal firearms in the national capital region, he added.
