Gandhinagar, May 16 May 16 (IANS) The BJP government in Prime minister Narendra Modi's home state Gujarat is believed to have decided to postpone the mega investment summit -- Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit 2019 -- by about a week.
The biennial event, held since 2003 to attract investors to the state, has since its inception seen a consistent growth over the years, and is a pet project of then Chief Minister of Gujarat and now Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
All Summit events held to date were held three days prior to the kite festival on January 14. That is why, the forthcoming ninth edition of the event is now likely to be held from January 18 to 20, 2019.
"This time the rescheduling has been forced primarily to accommodate mega Kumbh Mela to be held in Uttar Pradesh during the second week of January. Moreover, Prime Minister wishes to make it possible for many of the NRIs attending Vibrant Gujarat to be able to travel to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi and attend 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas between January 21 and 23, 2019," a senior government official said.
