Nothing to crow about, Congress says of Kerala government’s rule

Thiruvananthapuram, May 10 (IANS) The Kerala unit of the Congress on Thursday said the state's Pinarayi Vijayan government had nothing much to talk of about its two years in power except for "the Chief Minister's dictatorial style of functioning and lack of coordination in governance".

The Left Democratic Front government will celebrate its second anniversary on May 25. The Left government this week claimed to have put up a very good show in all sectors.

"The government has been nothing but an abject failure. The single reason for this is Vijayan's dictatorial style of functioning. There has been absolutely no coordination at all in anything," Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala told the media here.

"All that the Chief Minister has done is to take forward projects we (earlier Oomen Chandy government) commenced... projects like the Vizhinjam port and Kannur airport are moving slowly. The most unfortunate thing is that Vijayan chased away 'Metro man' E. Sreedharan that has affected light metro projects in Kozhikode and in this city," added Chennithala.

Chennithala claimed that law and order in the state was "appallingly poor".

"As many as 25 political murders and eight custodial deaths in two years, besides five reshuffles involving district police heads. This is a record of sorts for any state government. What is even more dangerous is the manner in which Kerala police has been politicised," the Congress leader said.
