Mumbai, April 22 (IANS) Mia Maelzer, an actress, casting director, acting coach, art director and production designer, says that working with the acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi in "Beyond The Clouds" was a big learning experience.
Mia said: "It was incredible. Majidi Sir and I kind of come from a similar kind of film background. Majidi Sir is a huge admirer of Satyajit Ray films and I am a distant relative of Satyajit Ray. So we used to bond while interacting about his style of filmmaking.
"The entire team's whole intention was to give best assistance to Majidi Sir to make a good film because it was his first Indian film. It was amazing and it was a big learning experience for people who were involved with him in making of 'Beyond the Clouds'," she added.
Mia plays the role of a jail inmate of Malavika Mohanan's character in "Beyond the Clouds".
She said: "Casting director Honey Trehan contacted me to be a part of 'Beyond the Clouds'. I was very excited because the film specialises in child issues all over the world and they handed over the responsibility of finding child actors, to me.
"This was my first film as a casting and acting coach for a film. When Majidi Sir told me that it was lovely working with me, I felt like I cannot get a better award than this while working in my first film."
She is currently working on Sharad Raj's project "Ek Betuke Aadmi Ki Afrah Raatein", among other projects.
"I have done a few short films and I got offers of some commercial feature films as well but I am not considering them because I am looking forward to do strong performance oriented roles as I am not acting to earn money," she said.
