New Delhi, April 6 (IANS) The BJP members on Friday staged protest in Parliament against the washout of the second leg of the budget session due to disruptions, holding the Congress responsible.
Soon after both the Houses were adjourned sine die, concluding the budget session, half of which was completely washed out due to disruptions, the Bharatiya Janata Party MPs assembled near Mahatma Gandhi's statue and marched to B.R. Ambedkar's statue in the Parliament House Complex.
The BJP leaders were holding placards saying "Congress Stop Hypocrisy, Save Democracy".
Talking to reporters Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar accused the Congress for disruptions in Parliament. He said that the Congress did not let the House function.
"BJP works to connect people while the Congress works to divide them. The Congress indulges in divisive, negative politics. We are protesting against the negative attitude of Congress which the country has seen during last 23 days," Kumar said.
The session has witnessed very little business due to continuous disruption over various demands by opposition and other parties.
Both the Houses witnessed disruptions over different issues including demands for special status to Andhra Pradesh, setting up of the Cauvery Management Board and the multi-thousand crore PNB fraud since March 5 when Parliament reassembled for the budget session after recess.
The Telugu Desam Party has been demanding special status to Andhra Pradesh while the AIADMK members were asking for constitution of Cauvery Management Board to manage water distribution between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
The Congress and other opposition parties were demanding discussion on the Punjab National Bank fraud under the adjournment motion.
The Budget Session that began on January 29 and went into a recess on February 9, resumed on March 5 before concluding on April 6 (Friday).
