Ready for partial shift of IndiGo, SpiceJet operations to IGIA T2: DIAL

Ready for partial shift of IndiGo, SpiceJet operations to IGIA T2: DIALNew Delhi, March 23 (IANS) The Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) on Friday said that it has made "robust arrangements for smooth transition" of partial operations of budget carriers IndiGo and SpiceJet to Terminal-2 (T2) of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.

Commenting on the development, DIAL CEO I. Prabhakara Rao said: "In view of the robust passenger growth and upcoming airport expansion works, IndiGo and SpiceJet are moving partly to Terminal 2... This will enable us to start the expansion works at Terminal 1 that will be carried out over the next three-four years."

While GoAir was the first airline to shift its entire operation to T2 in October 2017, IndiGo and SpiceJet would shift their operations partially from March 25.

IndiGo will shift 10 of its sectors which includes destinations like Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Raipur, Srinagar, Udaipur, Vadodara and Vishakhapatnam, whereas SpiceJet will shift seven sectors: Ahmedabad, Goa, Gorakhpur, Kochi, Patna, Pune and Surat.

On the arrangements made for a "smooth transition" of partial operations of IndiGo and SpiceJet to T2 from T1, DIAL said: "An extensive signage exercise has been done at IGI Airport for helping passengers with directions and locations of their respective terminals."

"For passengers inadvertently reaching the wrong terminals, free shuttles with specially trained drivers have been introduced to and from T1 and T2."
