Ghaziabad police chief Vaibhav Krishna told the media that the two men, from Malda town in West Bengal, were taken into custody near the ABES Engineering College.
On being questioned, they admitted they were waiting for public transport to go to Delhi to hand over the currency to a contact. They were identified as Mohd Ujeer and Mohd Mairaz.
"The police are working to bust the entire network from the supplier to the end user," said Krishna, the Senior Superintendent of Police.
