Bangladesh President arrives in Assam

Guwahati, March 8 (IANS) The Assam government on Thursday accorded a warm welcome to the President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Md. Abdul Hamid, on his arrival in Guwahati.

The President of Bangladesh, who is on a three-day visit to Assam and Meghalaya, arrived at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport at Borjhar near Guwahati.

On his arrival, Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, state PWD Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, state Irrigation Minister Ranjit Dutta and Assam Chief Secretary T.Y. Das received the Bangladesh President with traditional Assamese 'gamosa' and bouquet.

Later in the evening, the visiting President along with his entourage paid a visit to the Kamakhya temple. He also enjoyed the scenic beauty of river Brahmaputra boarding cruise vessel 'Al-Fresco Grand'.
