Punjab AAP legislator, bureaucrat involved in spat

Chandigarh, March 7 (IANS) An Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator and a bureaucrat in Punjab's Faridkot district were involved in an ugly spat at the latter's office in Faridkot, 225 km from here, on Wednesday.

The AAP legislator, Kultar Singh Sandhwan, who represents Kotkapura seat in the Punjab Assembly, got into a heated argument with Faridkot Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Keshav Hingonia.

In the video of the incident, Hingonia was seen telling the AAP legislator to leave his (Hingonia's) office. The video went viral on Wednesday.

"Get out. Go outside and shout," the officer was heard telling the legislator, who was accompanied by several supporters.

The ADC walked out following the spat.

The legislator later told the media that the officer did not behave properly with him as per protocol for a sitting legislator.

"We had gone to submit a memorandum regarding bungling in MNREGA funds in the district which were not reaching the poor people. The DC was not there, so we met the ADC. The officer did not behave properly and asked me to go out," the legislator said.

Supporters of the legislator alleged that the bureaucrat kept sitting and made the legislator stand in his office.

"The officer did not show even respect and courtesy to the elected legislator," one AAP supporter said.

Sandhwan said he will complain to the Chief Secretary against the ADC.

Hingonia in turn vowed to complain to the Assembly Speaker against the AAP legislator.
