New Delhi, March 5 (IANS) The I-League match between Gokulam Kerala FC and Mohun Bagan, which was earlier scheduled to be played on March 6, has now been rescheduled for the final day of the League -- March 8.
The match will kick-off at 3 p.m. in Kozhikode, simultaneously with other two matches at Panchkula (between Minerva Punjab FC and Churchill Brothers) and Kolkata (between East Bengal and Neroca FC) scheduled on the same day.
"We needed to ensure that all teams who are in the fray for the coveted Hero I-League title get a fair chance to have a go at the title," I-League CEO Sunando Dhar said in a statement.
"We try and see that no team gets an undue advantage and hence, we felt best to postpone the match for the final day."
"It's now a common trend for the Hero I-League to go down the wire with the title being decided on the final day. It speaks volume about the competitiveness in the League," Dhar added.
The I-League title race is poised on the knife-edge with all four teams Minerva Punjab FC (32 points in 17 matches), Neroca FC (31 points in 17 matches), Mohun Bagan (30 points from 17 matches) and East Bengal (29 points from 16 matches) staking claim to the crown.
