Reliance Energy Mumbai customers can pay bills at post officesMumbai, March 2 (IANS) In a move to widen the easy payment options for electricity bills, distribution company (discom) Reliance Energy on Friday announced it has tied up with Department of Post to enable bill payment at post offices in Mumbai.

Reliance Energy's over three million customers spread over its 400 sq km distribution area now also have the option to pay their monthly electricity bills at 130 post offices in the city open from Monday to Saturday, except second and fourth Saturdays and bank holidays, a company statement said here.

"Out of the 240 post offices in Mumbai, 130 are located in Reliance Energy's distribution area falling between Bandra to Bhayender in the Western suburbs, Kurla to Vikhroli in Central suburbs and Tilak Nagar to Mankhurd in Eastern suburbs," it said.

 

All the post offices are computerized and can also accept cash up to Rs 20,000 as payment for a monthly electricity bill, it added.

"Post offices are safe, conveniently located in the eastern and western suburbs near railway stations. This is yet another initiative by Reliance Energy to provide customer delight in delivering services," a company spokesperson said.

"Recently, Reliance Energy has also deployed the dynamic UPI QR Code on printed bills. Customer needs to scan the QR Code using any UPI app like ABHIM, Google Tez, PhonePe, PayTM or any bank apps, enter UPI PIN and obtain acknowledgement receipt. No AOne Time Password (OTP ) is required as UPI PIN is the secure authenticator," it said.

The discom said it provides close to 2,000 payment avenues to consumers for bill payment.

"Apart from physical payment options at Reliance Energy offices spread across its distribution areas and post offices, customers can also pay their electricity bills at cheque drop boxes, and through internet banking, mobile banking, Freecharge, bill desk, online VDS, NACH, credit and debit cards, ITZ cash cards and various other online options," it added.
