Gijon (Spain), Feb 28 (IANS) Thousands of Sporting Gijon's fans on Wednesday bid a last farewell to the Spanish club's late star Enrique Castro, best known as "Quini," at the Molinon stadium.
The stadium, which is to be re-named after Quini, saw thousands of fans lining up throughout the morning to pay their respects to the beloved striker, who died Tuesday at the age of 68, reports Efe.
Many former players and representatives of Gijon's local government also came to say their goodbyes to Quini, who made his debut at Ensidesa in 1967 before joining Sporting Gijon for a first 16-year spell.
After four successful years at Barcelona, he returned to Gijon, where he retired three years later, in 1987.
