Delhi sees slight drop in mercury, rains likely on Saturday

New Delhi, Feb 23 (IANS) A day after seeing the warmest February day of decade with the maximum temperature at 32 degrees Celsius, the national capital on Friday saw some respite with it dipping to 31.1 degree Celsius, but still six notches above the season's average.

Further respite is likely on Saturday with rain showers expected towards afternoon and evening, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

"Saturday would see generally cloudy sky with thuderstorm and rain shower likely towards noon and evening.

"Maximum temperature is likely to hover around 30 degrees on Saturday," IMD official said.

According to IMD, temperature will marginally fall further on Sunday and Monday, providing slight respite.

The minimum temperature recorded on Friday was 15.5 degrees, four notches above the season's average.

Humidity oscillated between 47 to 94 per cent on Friday.

On Thursday, maximum temperature was 32 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature was 14 degrees.
