The civil work of the project may start in July next, said Executive Engineer S.S. Verma of the Ghaziabad Development Authority, who will be responsible for the project in Ghaziabad.
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has already paid its share of Rs 668 crore for the elevated corridor work in Ghaziabad. The total project cost is estimated at Rs 32,000 crore.
In the three phases of the project, the stretch from Anand Vihar to Murad Nagar, from Murad Nagar to Mohiddinpur in Meerut, and Mohiddinpur to Partapur in Meerut will be taken up.
Verma said the project will have both elevated and underground tracks.
The tender process to be uploaded on the authority website on March 20 will be regarding the elevated track only.
The proposed train will run from Anand Vihar to Sahibabad village on underground tracks and from Sahibabad to Partapur on elevated tracks.
The detailed project report was submitted in November 2017. The state government had released an initial Rs 100 crore out of its share in December 2017, Verma said.
