New Delhi, Feb 20 (IANS) The BJP on Tuesday condemned the assault on Delhi's Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash allegedly by AAP legislators and demanded Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's resignation.
"As far as situation in Delhi is concerned, it is a situation of great worry. The Constitutional crisis that has come to the fore today in Delhi is because of the lawlessness created by Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party," said BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra.
He said such a Chief Minister had no right to stay on his post. "The Chief Minister has no moral responsibility to continue. He must resign at the earliest."
Patra was reacting to the alleged assault on Prakash by AAP MLAs in a meeting at the Chief Minister's residence. The ruling AAP denied the allegation even as the IAS Association Secretary, Manisha Saxena, complained to Lt. Governor Anil Baijal, claiming that the attack on Monday night was a "planned criminal conspiracy" against the top bureaucrat.
Patra claimed that the reason behind the assault was the release of funds for advertisements for the AAP government.
"We have got to know through sources and media reports that genesis of this whole anarchy was not because of any issue of public interest rather it was an issue of self importance of Kejriwal.
"It was concerning advertisement fund that was to be released by the Chief Secretary. Kejriwal insisted that more and more funds should be released for his self advertisement. The Chief Secretary said that there are certain norms set by the Supreme Court that how much money can be spent by a government on advertisements.
"But he was slapped and maltreated. This is basic nature of Kejriwal who has declared himself as a born anarchist," Patra said.
