Lucknow, Feb 20 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday flagged off 100 motorcycles for the 'UP-100' service, officials said.
This is the first lot of a total of 1,600 two-wheelers which will be provided to the police in due course of time, an official said.
The motorcycles have mobile data terminal (MDT) on which they will get instructions from the headquarters. That will enable the police personnel to reach the callers' destination directly.
Besides, the two-wheelers are also equipped with LED lights, sirens, Public Address (PA) system, crime scene kit, utility box, helmet, torch, mobile charging point, bottle holder and other facilities.
Adityanath also directed police officials to ensure they promptly respond to distress calls, try to reach the scene of the crime quickly and reduce the response time to 10 minutes.
He also asked the police personnel involved in the 'UP-100' service to be people-friendly.
