"The sky is expected to get cloudy towards the afternoon or evening," an India Meteorological Department official said.
Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 73 per cent, while the visibility stood at 1,500 metres.
At least eight trains were cancelled, 11 delayed and one was rescheduled due to fog in some parts of northern India, according to the railways.
The maximum temperature was likely to hover around 24 degrees Celsius.
Wednesday's maximum temperature settled at 23.4 degrees Celsius, one notch below the season's average, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 10.2 degrees Celsius, the season's average.
