PyeongChang (South Korea), Feb 9 (IANS) The opening ceremony of the PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games kicked off on Friday.
The highlight of the ceremony, which is being attended by 35,000 people, is North and South Korea marching together under a unified flag for the first time in 12 years in front of a North Korean delegation led by the country's honorary president, Kim Yong-nam, and Kim Yo-jong, sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, reports Efe.
North Korea's presence at the Games is a result of a landmark agreement between the two Koreas during several high-level meetings in January and follows a period of escalated tension in the region over continuous weapons tests by Pyongyang.
