New Delhi, Feb 9 (IANS) BJP President Amit Shah's bike rally with one lakh motorists to be held on February 15 in Harayana's Jind may face trouble on grounds of pollution, with the NGT on Friday seeking the state government's response.
The National Green Tribunal asked the Haryana government to file a response by February 13.
The order came after an affidavit was filed by petitioner Sameer Sodhi, who pointed out at the health impact that such a rally would cause.
The plea said that instead of motorcycles, the government should ask the participants to go for environment-friendly modes of transport.
"Direct the respondents (authorities) to either reduce the number of motorbikes... or use more environment friendly modes and methods, such as bicycles, by foot or e-rickshaws," Sodhi said.
The petitioner also asked them to constitute a committee to assess the adverse impacts of air and noise pollution if the proposed rally was taken out.
