Mumbai, Feb 9 (IANS) Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) on Friday reported a 5.64 per cent fall in its standalone net profit to Rs 2,143.74 crore in the third quarter (Q3) of 2017-18.
The company had reported a net profit of Rs 2,271.94 crore in the corresponding quarter of 2016-17, it said.
However, the total income of BPCL during the quarter under review stood at Rs 70,922.56 crore, up 9.7 per cent from Rs 64,646.70 crore earned in Q3 of 2016-17.
Profit declined in Q3, 2017-18 due to a 10.56 per cent increase in expenditure of the company to Rs 67,884.55 crore, from Rs 61,397.64 crore reported in the corresponding period of FY17.
"The Board of Directors have declared interim dividend of Rs 14 per equity share of face value Rs 10 each i.e. 140 per cent of the paid up equity share capital of the company for the financial year 2017-18," the company said in a regulatory filing at the BSE.
