Experts welcome cyber security initiative

Experts welcome cyber security initiativeNew Delhi, Feb 1 (IANS) Cyber security players on Thursday welcomed the government's decision to build a secure work environment online by creating a Center of Excellences (CoEs) for disruptive technologies, including cyberspace.

Presenting the Union Budget, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the Department of Science and Technology will launch a Mission on Cyber-Physical Systems.

"This is huge step with financial backing to make India a cyber-secure nation. Such focus on the sector further encourages F-Secure to support the country with best-in-class solutions, helping customers minimise risk and guard against the cybercriminals," said Keith Martin, Head, Asia Pacific, Corporate Business, F-Secure.

For Padmanabha Krishnamurthy, CFO at global IT security service provider Paladion Networks, the continued focus on digital growth in this space is a necessity today.

Shrenik Bhayani, General Manager at Kaspersky Lab (South Asia) said the Budget evidently pictures a positive growth towards digitalisation in India.

"The aim to setup 5 lakh Wi-Fi hotspots is a great step which also calls the need for being alert on the cybersecurity front. People need to be educated about anti-virus solutions and be made aware about not falling for phishing attacks," he said.

KK Mookhey, CEO and Founder of Network Intelligence, said it is positive to see that five lakh Wi-Fi hotspots will be set up, covering five crore rural citizens.

"We would have liked to see more substantial movement on setting up the CERT-Fin for the financial sector," Mookhey said.
