Kolkata, Jan 31 (IANS) The Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday seized silver ornaments worth Rs 2.18 lakh in West Bengal's Nadia district, a BSF official said.
Acting on a tip, the troopers deployed at the Vijaypur outpost ambushed a suspect near the India-Bangladesh border.
"Silver ornaments weighing 5.65 kg, including 70 pairs of silver anklets and 452 silver rings, were seized from him," BSF Deputy Inspector General R.P.S Jaswal said in a statement. "The smuggler fled into banana plantations on the Indian side."
